Tuesday Grocery Shopping $41.63

I did a little shopping yesterday so I could snag some good deals that were ending and to use the Albertson's double coupons from the Sunday paper. I ended up getting more than I thought . . .

Gallon Organic 2% milk - $4.99
Gallon non-fat milk - $2.39 ($1.00 Markdown) = $1.39
Hot dog buns & hamburger buns - $1.00 - not a great deal, but I needed them.
2# bags of carrots - $1.00 each
Roma tomatoes - $.58/lb
Yogurt cups - $.30/each (Buy 7, Get 3 Free coupon) = $.21 each
Dozen eggs - $.99
Pimento stuffed olives - $3.99
Hillshire Farms smoked chicken sausage - $1.99 each markdown (for stir-fry meal swap soon)
Fletcher's breakfast sausage links - $1.99 each (out of breakfat meat)
Baby Food clearance $.25 each (I picked out the 3 packages dated 2011 or later so I can use them for #4 due in September)

Kellogg's Deal
Buy 8 get $8.00 off
Nutrigrain Bar $3.99, on sale $2.50 ($1.00 deal)($.75 MC doubled) = FREE
Poptarts $3.89, on sale $2.50 ($1.00 deal)($1.00/2 MC doubled)= $.50 each
Rice Krispies $4.69, on sale $2.50 (1.00 deal)($1.25/3 MC) = 1.08 each
Raisin Bran $4.59, on sale $2.50 ($1.00 deal)($1.00/2 MC doubled) = $.50 each

Not pictured: hand of bananas $.59/lb, 2 cucumbers $.50 each, markdown dozen doughnuts $1.99.

All this cost $41.63, but I had a gift card for $23.92 making it only $17.71 out of pocket.

How I Grocery Shop - Store Clearance With Pictures!

Another favorite grocery shopping trick is to check out the store clearance items. These "finds" are often my favorite part of shopping because it's such a delight to come home with an uexpected sweet deal.

Some stores have a clearance section, just mark items where they are on the shelf, or a combination of both.

At my QFC there are several markdown sections. One is in the refrigerated lunchmeat & cheese area. Another is at one end of the meat department. There is also a bakery markdown shelf a few aisles down from the bread and a general merchandise markdown shelf near the pharmacy. All of these are in the back of the store.

At Fred Meyer, it's a similar situation. The meat department has a little corner clearance area and there are general merchandise and bakery markdown racks, too. At Fred Meyer the deli cheese & meat doesn't have a designated spot, but the clearance items are tagged and left in their regular display spots. The markdown salad, refrigerated 'produce' items and organic items are also left in their displays. Freezer markdowns are usually on the top shelf of the endcap freezer case nearest the meat deparment.
Clearance tags at Fred Meyer & QFC have the same orange & yellow Kroger markdown tags and look like this:

Fred Meyer has additional "50% off original price" tags that are big orange circles:

At Target the clearance sections for every non-clothing department are usually on endcaps. These are on the end of an aisle pointing away from the front of the store. In the refrigerated cases there is usually a clearance shelf in the last cold case toward the back of the store. The Target clearance stickers look like this:

Albertson's has a big variety of stickers depending on where the item is. Also Albertson's stores vary pretty widely about where they locate their clearance items. This sticker is pretty standard. It'll be on pre-packaged meats & cheese - pretty much anything in that vicinity - and it's really easy to spot.

These red mark-down stickers are on the "fancier" deli items like refrigerated pasta & soft cheese. I think the general meat markdowns also have these. Sorry for the poor picture quality - I used my cell phone at the store.

Next, these "Clearance Item" tags are on non-perishable food items. Some Albertson's have big clearance racks that are filled with these tags and related items and you won't find too many of these tags in the aisles (Redmond). Some Albertson's have a tiny clearance shelf and more of these tags will be in the aisles (Bellevue). The Woodinville store has a good mix. My preference is the Redmond store so I can see all the clearance stuff in one place and do my "perimeter" shopping quickly. If I decide to walk through the aisles loooking for the tags the shopping takes much longer. Again, this is cell phone photo.

Safeway's clearance section is usually in the back near the doors to the stockroom for non-perishable items and a small section of the deli case (knee height) for meat & cheese. There is often an additional freezer markdown area on the bottom shelf of a freezer case near the meat deparment. They have bright orange tags that clearly mark the original price. Safeway also has white "% Off" tags for markdown meat, too - sorry no photo of the white tags.

Lastly, this is a Walgreen's markdown sticker. I happened to have this so I thought I'd include it. (P.S. This was only $0.09 because I had a $1.00 off manufacturer's coupon!)

Grocery shopping on clearance is just like any other clearance shopping. Some items are great deals and some are on clearance for a reason. Just use your discretion, know what a good price really is, and have fun hunting!
Tomorrow I'll put all the grocery shopping together and show you a whole week's worth of shopping.

How I Grocery Shop - Put it all Together

Now that the "How I Grocery Shop" series is concluded I wanted to show you an example of all the pieces together including my random, organization thoughts.

I usually grocery shop in the wee hours on Saturday morning, but I was hosting a baby shower this particular Saturday and knew the shopping would be delayed until Sunday sometime. I did, however, need to pick up some balloons for the shower so I dashed down to Fred Meyer and of course, did quick run by the clearance bins. Here's what I found:

Nice 'n Soft TP - clearance $2.49
MD TP - clearance $2.49
Hamburger buns - clearance $.79 (note to self - eat pulled pork from freezer)
Bread - clearance $.79

On Saturday my priority was eating stuff out of the freezer (as ever) so I'd have room to freeze berries before I made jam mid-July. My aunt found me a used canner at a garage sale but I won't see her until the weekend of July 10th so I planned to save berries until then.
So Saturday night DH and I watched a movie and I made my menu plan and grocery list.

Menu Plan Dinners:
Sunday -Pulled Pork Sandwiches
Monday - Beef Fajitas (need to use an old bell pepper)
Tuesday - Ham/Potato soup (freezer meal) & garden salad
Wednesday - Spanish Rice w/Ground Beef (freezer meal) & garden salad
Thursday - Garlic Chicken in White Wine Sauce (freezer meal), macaronda, & salad
Friday - Pork Chops, Cheesy Broccoli Rice, Salad
Saturday - Beefy Enchilada Casserole, spanish rice (leftover?), & salad
Sunday - July 4th BBQ
Monday - Russian Chicken, rice, salad
Tuesday - Beef Stir Fry

Grocery List

Must Buy: Whipping Cream for promised Strawberry Shortcake

Should Buy/Getting Low:
Cooking spray
Vegetable oil
Potatoes
Milk - both whole & nonfat
Cucumbers
Tomatoes
Bananas
Other fruit -whatever's on sale
Cream cheese
Toilet paper - Got this one!!!
AA Batteries
Olives - both green and black
Pork loin

It's always nice when there is so little on the "must buy" list as I'm planning so many freezer meals and we have been getting such great lettuce from the garden. Basically I get to just shop the good deals! So I made a list for each of the ads (including Fred Meyer's new ad) and had short lists (4-7 items each) for Fred Meyer, QFC, Top, and Safeway. I prioritized like this: QFC (whipping cream on sale), Safeway (waiting for cream cheese at $1 for 3 weeks!), Top (great 77Cent sale this week), and Fred Meyer. Albertson's just wasn't anything spectacular and unless they had double coupons I didn't plan to go.
Sunday I had sick kiddo and didn't make it to church. DH picked up some bread for us. Usually we select one or two items. I don't know how DH ended up with all this, but here's a picture and the list: A double pack of ciabatta long loaves, 2 loaves of wheat bread, a package of bagels, a dozen croissants and 36, yes 36, white dinner rolls. Hmm.

I saw all of this bread in the car as I was getting ready to leave for grocery shopping. I did a quick evaluation and figured we'd be eating bagels, croissants, and french toast for breakfast. Thank goodness cream cheese was on sale! We'd also have lots of sandwiches for lunch on the rolls. Again, yay for lunch meat in the freezer! The loaves of bread would keep in the freezer - good bye berry freezing plans.
Now it was time to shop! I decided to go to Albertson's after all when I saw their double coupon in the Sunday paper. I can always a good deal with those. I also went to Safeway, QFC, and even stopped at Walgreen's for a couple items. I was exhausted by the time I got home and didn't even want to think about Top or Fred Meyer. That's what usually happens and why I prioritize where I need to go. Overall I shopped about 2 hours and spent $42.52. $21.33 of that was on gift cards so I only spent $21.19 out of pocket. And I also have a mail-in rebate to send for $3 and a $3 Walgreen's Reward to spend in the next couple of weeks.

Here are the details - grocery sales are still on through Tuesday night.

Albertson's:
2 boxes Cinnamon Toast Crunch -sale $2.49 ($4.00/4 store deal)($1.00/2 MC doubled) = $.49 each
2 boxes of Cheerios - sale $2.49 ($4.00/4 store deal)($1.00/2 MC doubled) = $.49 each
S'Mores Deal - Hershey's, marshmallows & graham crackers on sale totalling $6.49 ($2.00/all store deal) ($1.00/all 3 MC in-store) = $3.49 for all 3
Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce - sale $1.00 ($1.00/2 MC doubled) = FREE
Vegetable Oil 1 gallon - sale $6.79 (much cheaper than the $10 at cash'n'carry!)
Turkey & Ham lunchmeat - clearance $0.99 each
Bananas $.59/lb
Gillette Hairspray - clearance $1.00 ($1.00 MC) = FREE
I have a gift card for Albertson's so I decided to get the bananas here as well as go ahead and splurge on the bulk purchase of vegetable oil. I bought the last gallon sometime last summer so I figure this jug will last another year or so. Also the clearance lunch meat and free hairspray made me really glad I came.

Safeway:
Caesar dressing - sale price $1.49 (1.00 MC) = $.49
Cream Cheese - sale price $.99
Grapes - $.99/lb
Cucumbers - $0.50 each
Coffeemate powder tubes - $1.29 (50% off clearance)($.50 MC) = $.14
Walgreens:
Finesse conditioner - $3.99 (BOGO Sale)($1.00 MC)($3.00 MIR) = Both for price of stamp $.44
Blistex 3 pack - $2.99 ($3.00 coupon for next Walgreen's trip) = FREE
2 pears - $.50 each (weird to find pears at Walgreens, but pears haven't been on sale for awhile and I thought $.50 would be close to $1/lb.)

QFC:
Cottage Cheese - sale price $1.00
Whipping Cream - sale price $1.00
Dozen Eggs - sale price $1.00
Fresh Mozarella - clearance price $2.69 ($1.00 MC) = $1.69 (this is a total yummy treat for me)
Tomatoes - sale price $1.00/lb (cheaper at Top, but I wanted a couple to go with the mozzarella)

Top:
Top is really having an excellent sale this week, especially with the $1.00 off deparment coupons inside the ad. I will probably try to make it over there still for the $.77/lb tomatoes and 3/$1 kiwi with the $1 produce coupon. I will also try to use the $1 grocery coupon with the $3.77 block of cheese and possibly Zararin's rice.

Fred Meyer:
I will probably skip FM entirely. They have a great deal on Ben & Jerry's and I have an MC, but it's an extra and pregnancy + ice cream is not good for me. I seriously ate two whole 1.5 quart cartons by myself in about 5 days last week. So we can skip the Ben & Jerry's. I got BBQ sauce at Albertson's and enough other fruit that I don't need the $.88 peaches.

So that's about it - my week in shopping. Oh - it turns out DD's won't eat mini-sandwiches on the white dinner rolls so I'm thinking I'll give them a try as french toast next (thanks for the idea, Ruth!).

How I Grocery Shop - Grocery Ads & This Week's Shopping

Once I have made my menu plan and the corresponding "must buy" and "should buy soon" shopping lists I have a look at the weekly grocery ads. The ads arrive in Tuesday's mail for the new sales starting Wednesday. The exception is the Fred Meyer ad which comes in the free Friday paper and the Sunday Times.

I go through the weekly ad for each store, looking specifically for the items on my shopping list and also for any really low prices on other items. It takes some time to learn what a "good price" is if you aren't already paying attention.

Keep in mind that just because an item is in the weekly ad doesn't mean it's a good price or even that it's on sale. Also keep in mind that a 10 for $10 sale doesn't mean you have to buy 10 items - you can just buy one for $1. Sometimes stores have a "Buy 10 and save $5" promotion. Typically you don't have to buy 10 of the same items for these either, but you will have to buy any 10 of the participating items to get the $5 off.

This week I made a short list for 4 stores, though it is unusual for me to visit more than 2 each week. Usually I just pick the 2 stores with the best sales and choose to miss out on the other stores' deals. This week I visited 3 stores because of Joanna's birthday party and the quantity of items I must buy immediately.

Generally I have very few "must buy" items and lots of "should buy soon" items. I can take several weeks sometimes to find a price low enough to buy on a "should buy soon" item so I try to give myself plenty of time to find the best price. I want to get the good prices on those "must buy" items this week, so I made time to visit an extra store.

My short lists were for QFC, Safeway, Top and Albertson's. I elected to skip Safeway because while Coffeemate was at a low enough sale price, none of the items on the list for that store were on the "must buy" and only two, the Coffeemate and non-sugar cereal were on the "should buy soon" list. QFC and Albertson's had "must buy" items at low prices and Top had a few produce prices I didn't want to miss. So those were the three for this week's shopping.

Here's what I got at QFC for $13.00 (used a gift card):

Add Image

10 Yogurt Cups - $.6o BOGO = $.30 each
2 bags Egg Noodles - sale price $1.39 each
32 oz. yogurt - markdown $1.51
Cream Cheese - $1.69
6# bananas - $.59/lb

Here's what I got at Top & Albertson's for $26.81:

5- 2 liter generic sodas - $.69 each sale price (for Joanna's party)
2 cans Black Olives - $1.00 each sale price (for Joanna's party)
1 jar Pimento Olives - $2.29 sale price (for Joanna's party)
2- 2# bricks of cheese - $3.99 each
2 - Oscar Mayer lunch meat - $3.49 regular, markdown to $.99, ($1.00/2) MC = $.49 each
2 - Lunchable Deli Creations - $.299 regular, markdown to $.99, ($1.00/1) twice MC = FREE plus $.01 overage
Bell Peppers - $.69 each sale price (for Joanna's party)
Cucumber - $.79 (for Joanna's party)
Celery - $.89 (for Joanna's party)
Carrots - $.79 (for Joanna's party)
Grapes - $1.38/lb
Kiwi, lemon, limes - $3/1.00
Tomatoes - $.79/lb

There are still a few more things on my "must buy" list for these two weeks of menu plan and Joanna's party. I'll have a look at the ads for the new week to see what kinds of deals I can find.

Next up: What's a "good price?"

Albertson's Double Coupons

Don't forget to use your Albertson's double coupons from the Sunday paper. They expire today and I'm headed to the store late tonight so I don't miss out! I'll let you know what I find.

Also, I found out that Safeway ads in Portland have been running double coupons periodically, too. They will double 4 up to $.50 each. Bummer that our Seattle ads don't have it, too. There must be more grocery competition in Portland.

Weekend Shopping & Menu Plan

These groceries cost $29.39 all together, so I didn't quite manage staying to $25 for the week. Maybe next week will be closer to $20? We'll see.

By far the best deal was the Post Cereal. It was $1.49 on sale at Albertson's and I used 2 $1.00/2 coupons that doubled making each box only $0.49. At the checkout a Post catalina printed for $3.00 off my next shopping trip which meant the cereal was actually free and I got an overage of $1.00. Sweet!

Other great deals:
olive oil $4.99 ($4.00) = $.99
Millstone coffee coupon for free 1/2 pound
Dannon kids yogurt $2.00 ($1.00 doubled) = Free
Tillamook organic sour cream markdown to $.69

Dinners this week:
Wednesday - Pulled pork sandwiches - from freezer
Thursday - Ham & bean soup - using ham stock & ham from freezer
Friday - Beef Bourguignon - from freezer & company for dinner - that's OK, right?
Saturday - Orange chicken with rice - from freezer
Sunday - Birdseye Steamfresh dinner from freezer
Monday - Italian sausage soup - beans from freezer
Tuesday - Pork chops & Potatoes - chops from freezer

I am really focused on emptying my freezer this week, can you tell? I am definitely defrosting this month!

Lunches:
W - mac'n'cheese pie (packed lunch)
D - PB & J (packed lunch)
F - french toast
S - grilled cheese
S - leftover ham soup & biscuits
M - pancakes
T - PB & J (packed lunch)

Cereal Deals at QFC and Albertsons

I never pay more than $1.00 for a box of cereal and we are getting low on the plain cereal (Cheerios, Kix, Rice Krispies) that the kids eat, so I was pleased to see some good sales this week.

QFC has sale on General Mills, Malt-o-Meal, & Kroger cereals this week. The General Mills cereal includes Cheerios, Trix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Cookie Crisp. They are $1.99 each, but when you buy 4 the price drops to $1.49 each. If you pair this deal with the $1/2 coupon at coupons.com (that you can print twice twice per computer) you'll get the GM cereal for $0.99 per box. I'll be getting 4 boxes of Cheerio.

Albertsons also has a great sale on Post Cereals including Honey Bunches of Oats, Raisin Bran, Pebbles, & Grape Nuts. They are $1.49 per box limit 4. I also have several $1/2 Post coupons that have come in the mailers recently. I'll pair those with the Albertsons double coupons that came in today's paper to get the cereal for $.49 each.

Happy Shopping!

Double Coupons Again

Just a reminder that Albertson's had three double coupons in the Sunday paper again. Go see what kind of deals you can snag!

Alberson's trip

I made a quick grocery shopping trip this weekend to buy produce and to use the Albertson's double coupons. My big girls wanted to be in the picture - they are fresh out of the bath.

Here's what I bought at the Woodinville Albertson's:
Dawn dish soap - was $3.39 on clearance for $1.57 ($1.50) = $.07
Barilla Pasta - was $1.99 on clearance for $1.49 ($.75 doubled) = FREE + $.01
Ken's Caesar - was $4.39 on sale for $2.99 ($1.00 doubled) = $.99
Suave Radiant Brunette Shampoo & Conditioner - $2.79 on clearance for $1.39 ($1.00/2 doubled) = $.39 each
John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Conditioner = was $6.49 on clearance for $3.25 ($3.00) = $.25!

We were out of Caesar dressing so that was the only planned food purchase & I found great clearance deals on everything else. At Albertson's there are bright red tags on shelved clearance items and neon yellow circles on diary/refrigerated items so I just scan for those.

I also spent $7 at Top Foods for produce, so $8 for food items this week including the Caesar dressing. I'm over my $100, but staying as close to it as I can.

Also a big thanks to various friends including Dana, Carly, Sarah, Meredith, and someone anonymous who have helped greatly with the groceries this month.

Albertson's Double Coupons - 3 days only

There was an insert in the Sunday paper today with 3 double coupons for Albertson's. This time they are only good until Tuesday so try to get in there soon!

Last weekend I took my double coupons to the Albertson's in Redmond. I am continually amazed by the deals I find at that Albertson's in particular. I took a picture of my non-food purchases last weekend and most of it was from Albertson's.

The 7th Generation diapers were regularly priced at $11.99 but were on clearance for $5.49! I also had a $1.00 off a 7th Gen product that doubled so I ended up getting this package of diapers for $3.49. Several of my friends use this product so I was super excited to get a potential shower gift for such a great price. Too bad DH opened the package looking for a diaper yesterday - sorry, size 1 won't fit our 22 pound baby. Rats! So, being resourceful, I'll just save them for baby #4.

The Purex laundry detergent was also on the clearance rack. It was regularly priced at $7.99 but was marked down to $2.99. I had a buy 1/get 1 coupon so I got these jugs for only $1.49 and $1.50!

I was almost out of dishwasher detergent and really concerned I would have to pay full price. Not so! This Cascade was regularly priced at $5.99 but on sale for $3.99. I had a $1.00 off coupon that doubled so this bottle cost me $1.99.

I bought the Irish Spring at Safeway for $2.99 with one of their weekly coupons. I got to the $10 requirement to use coupons by also purchasing a four lb. bag of frozen chicken breast for $6.76 and some bananas. I am so super excited to have chicken again, even though it is a small amount. I am rationing myself!

Albertson's Double Coupons

There were 3 double coupons included with the Albertson's insert in yesterday's paper. This time they are good for a week, so you have until Saturday 3/6/10 to use them.

I will admit that I am slightly obsessed with double coupons. In other parts of the country double (and even triple!) coupons are a pretty regular occurence and it steams me that we can't get the same deals here in the Northwest. Anyway, my 9 month old got her hands on the Albertson's insert this morning, and of course, the insert found it's quick way into her mouth. I was frantic to see if the coupons had been mangled by slobber and/or teeth, but was relieved to find only one damaged. Luckily the torn bit is not on the UPC so it should still work. Phew!

Albertsons Double Coupons

I went to Albertsons last night with my dear husband. We were actually on a date, but I couldn't miss out on those double coupons which expired yesterday. =^)

My camera is again failing me and rather than keep fighting with it and getting more and more frustrated I'll just tell you what I bought with the double coupons.

12 double rolls of Cottonelle - $5.49 sale ($1.00 doubled) = $3.49
Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste - $1.76 clearance ($1.00 doubled) = FREE + $.24 overage
Jiffypop Microwave Popcorn 3 pack - $1.00 sale ($.50 doubled) = FREE

I also bought onions & bananas which I need for the next few days before we leave for Disneyland, but I forgot to buy milk. I know! Now the question is should we try to live without it for three days or should I go pick up a quart and use it sparingly?

Albertsons Double Coupons

I was pleased to see 3 Double Coupons included in the Albertsons insert of the Sunday paper. Albertsons is also having a big 10/$10 sale with lots of match-ups with manufacturer coupons.

My favorite $1 deals include Calidad chips, Roma tomoatoes, sour cream, 7 oz. green chilies, powder parmesan, & Kleenex.

Here are some coupon match-ups I found, but I'm sure I also missed plenty. Any of these doubled would be great deals.
Hall's cough drops $1.00 ($.50 coupon from 1/10 insert)
Ken's dressing $1.99 ($1.00 coupon from 1/10 insert)
Swiss Miss cocoa $1.00 ($.50/2 coupon from 1/10 insert)
DanActive 4 pack $1.99 ($1.00 coupon from 1/10 insert)
Dannon Light & Fit 6 pack $1.99 ($1.00/2 from 1/10 insert)
Activia 4 pack $1.99 ($1.00 coupon from 1/10 insert)

The two Albertsons stores I frequent are also having substantial clearance sales right now which should net some great deals. For example, 12 double rolls of Cottonelle were marked down to $4.99 last week. In this weekend's USA Weekend there was a coupon for $1.00 off Cottonelle 12 packs. I am hoping there are still some of those clearance packages left so I can use a double coupon and get the 12 double rolls for $2.99.

Albertson's usually has a rack of markdowns somewhere in the store, but right now, with so many clearance items, there are lots of hanging red tags throughout the store, especially around paper goods and toothpaste. The Woodinville store has a markdown down rack back near the bakery, the Bellevue store has a rack right at the back end of the baby aisle, and the Redmond store has 3 big racks at the back left of the store near their organic section. I don't go to the Kirkland store often, but I'm sure they have a rack somewhere, too. Be sure to check these out!

Happy shopping!

Grocery Store Markdowns

I had great shopping trip to Albertson's this weekend where I found lots of clearance markdowns. I am always super-excited when I find markdown deals because the store has usually discontinued the item or the item is nearing expiration and the store just wants to get rid of it. This usually means a low price.

Most stores have markdown sections and/or markdown tags so you can easily locate these great deals.

DH: You can usually find markdown bins in the back of the stores. You can also find markdown shelf areas in the meat sections of most grocery stores. Also, you might be able to find a markdown bin next to a bakery where they sell baked goods that are going to go bad soon.

Albertson's Cheerios Money Maker

After I just posted that big list of Safeway deals I checkout out the Albertson's ad. Albertson's has Cheerios on sale for $1.88 each this week. Their Tuesday ad includes 3 double manufacturer's coupons on the back page. If you printed any three of the $1.00/1 Cheerios coupons I linked to in the previous post, you could double them and get the Cheerios for FREE plus $.12 Overage each box.

Albertson's Trip $3.52

I love double coupons!

I bought 2 pounds of shredded cheddar which would have been awesome all by itself for $3.52, but I also got:

6 cups of Dannon Light & Fit for $0.13/each
- one sale for 3/$1 ($.60/6 coupon doubled)
1 pouch of Beechnut Yogurt Nibbles FREE + $0.41 overage
- on clearance for $1.59 ($1.00 coupon doubled)
1 tube of Colgate Toothpaste $0.14
- on clearance for $1.69 ($.75 coupon doubled)

Yay for double coupons and not adding to my pantry or freezer!

Albertson's Coupons

Silly me! Here it is Tuesday morning and I finally looked at the Sunday paper. I was excited to see Albertson's had an insert with 3 double coupons and another coupon for their awesome cheese deal this week.

The cheese deal is 2# shredded for only $2.99. A good price on cheese is $2/lb, so only $1.50/lb qualifies as awesome. It's Albertson's brand in a variety of flavors - I will try to grab Montery Jack tonight since it's really hard to find at even $2/lb.

I don't usually bother buying cheddar when there is an awesome cheese sale because it's so easy to get for $2/lb. Fred Meyer's regular price is $4.49 for 2# of cheddar, too.

Also, don't neglect those double coupons. I get stuff for free and almost free with regularity using double coupons.
